The Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, visited the Ülkücü Martyrs Monument in Ankara. Speaking in front of cameras for the first time in 119 days, Bahçeli said, "Everything has its time, and that time is approaching. It is disrespectful to the sacred memory of our martyrs for those who have no trace in our land, who wander from here to there with their fields on their shoulders, to wear masks and unjustly accuse the MHP. At that time, it symbolizes the Century of Turkey; a new century of brotherhood is coming."
Highlights from MHP leader Bahçeli's statements are as follows: "I greet you all with utmost respect. Martyrdom is the name of the highest rank. While those who seek help from darkness are left to oblivion, our martyrs are in the light. The blessed legacies of our esteemed martyrs will be told from generation to generation. The Ülkücü martyrs are symbols of heroism. They are the brave hearts that embody the mission of a great and strong Turkey in their minds and consciences.
Their commitment to the homeland, the nation, and the cause was certain. They dedicated their lives to their ideals and principles. They did not make proclamations from crystal palaces like the privileged. They did not give in to the whims of the moment. They knew how to be poor on the outside and rich on the inside.
They did not let their egos overshadow their virtues. Everything has its time, and that time is approaching. It is disrespectful to the sacred memory of our martyrs for those who have no trace in our land, who wander from here to there with their fields on their shoulders, to wear masks and unjustly accuse the MHP. At that time, it symbolizes the Century of Turkey; a new century of brotherhood is coming.
The blessed legacies of our martyrs are at the very core of our lives. Martyrs do not die. I respectfully commemorate all our martyrs, including Alparslan Türkeş, and all my comrades who have lost their lives. I say may the souls of our martyrs be blessed."
