The Istanbul Governor's Office banned motorcycles and similar two-wheeled vehicles from entering traffic due to the heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions affecting the city. The ban, to be enforced throughout the city, will begin at 21:00 on Wednesday, October 14, and will continue until a second directive.

A new measure was taken in transportation due to the rainy weather that has increased its effect in Istanbul.

The Istanbul Governor's Office imposed a temporary restriction on the use of two-wheeled vehicles in order to ensure drivers' safety and prevent possible traffic accidents.

IT WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL A SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT

According to the decision taken by the Governor's Office, motorcycles and all similar two-wheeled vehicles will not be able to go out into traffic throughout Istanbul starting from 21:00 on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

While the date and time when the ban will end have not yet been determined, the measure will remain in effect until a new statement is made by the Governor's Office.

In the statement made by the Governor's Office, the following statements were included: “The entry into traffic of all motorcycles and derivative two-wheeled vehicles has been banned as of 21:00 on Wednesday, 14.10.2026, until a second instruction.”
