According to the bill presented to the Parliament by the AK Party, individuals with a credit card limit of 100,000 TL will be required to pay an annual contribution of 750 TL to the defense industry fund. While the new tax package has sparked discussions, many citizens are requesting their banks to lower their credit card limits to 99,000 TL. It has been observed that banks are not responding to these requests from their customers and are sending messages stating, "The bill has not officially become law. There is no need for you to lower your card limit."

The new tax regulation has gained significant attention on Turkey's agenda. Additional payments are expected to be imposed on many products such as real estate, vehicle sales, wristwatches, and drones. Under the proposal, credit card holders with a limit of 100,000 TL and above will pay an annual participation fee of 750 TL for each card. It is stated that these participation fees will be transferred to the Defense Industry Support Fund, with a total revenue target of 46 billion 466 million 329 thousand 428 TL.

BANKS ARE NOT MEETING LIMIT REQUESTS

The new tax package brought to the Parliament by the AK Party has created a significant public reaction. Some citizens expressed their objections to the participation fee to be collected from credit cards. According to information obtained from sector sources, in response to this situation, citizens want to reduce their card limits to 99,900 TL by contacting the banks' call centers. However, banks are not meeting their customers' requests. Limits are currently not being reduced. On the other hand, it has been recorded that the number of credit cards with a limit of 100,000 TL and above is 61 million 955 thousand 106.

BANKS ARE SENDING MESSAGES TO CUSTOMERS

After many people requested their banks to lower their card limits to 99,000 TL, banks also took action.

In the message from banks advising their customers not to lower their limits, the following statement was included: "Dear Customer, the legislative proposal mentioned in the news regarding the collection of 'contribution fees from customers with credit card limits of 100,000 TL and above for the Defense Industry Fund' has not officially become law. Therefore, there is no need for you to lower your card limit due to this news. We would like to inform you that you can continue to use your card under the current conditions, and you will be informed separately in case of any changes."
