A decision has been made regarding journalist Barış Terkoğlu, who was taken into custody after claiming that during a past raid on a venue called "Kütüphane," which has come into the spotlight due to drug operations, police encountered a prosecutor inside. Terkoğlu was released under judicial control with a travel ban imposed by the court to which he was referred.

BARIS TERKOGLU DETAINED

Barış Terkoğlu, who claimed in a program on YouTube that during a past raid on a place called "Library," police encountered a prosecutor inside, has been investigated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the charge of "publicly disseminating misleading information." Terkoğlu was detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams as per instructions.

PROSECUTOR'S STATEMENT

In his statement at the prosecutor's office, Terkoğlu said, "I do not wish to share the sources from which I obtained the information in the video, as per constitutional guarantee and press law. I stand behind the news I have made. If there is a suspicion of flight, I accept the precaution of arrest."

RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

After his statement at the prosecutor's office, Barış Terkoğlu was referred to the court. He was released under judicial control with a travel ban imposed.

Barış Terkoğlu was born on October 13, 1980, in Istanbul. He completed his undergraduate education in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University and obtained his master's degree in Middle Eastern Political History and International Relations at Marmara University Middle East Institute. He was detained on February 14, 2011, and after being held in Silivri Prison for 19 months as part of the OdaTV case, he was released at the hearing held on September 14, 2012.
