In the Seferihisar district of Izmir, 70-year-old Osman Gültaş, who was seriously injured when a wild bear attacked him while he was sleeping on the balcony of his single-story house, lost his life in the hospital where he was being treated. A search operation has been launched to capture the bear responsible for the tragic man's death, who was dragged 20 meters from the balcony.

70-year-old Osman Gültaş, who was attacked by a bear while sleeping on his balcony in İzmir's Seferihisar district, died in the hospital where he was taken in serious condition.

The incident occurred around 23:00 last night in Atatürk Neighborhood, Seferihisar district of İzmir. According to information received, 70-year-old Osman Gültaş became the target of a bear that descended into the area while he fell asleep on the balcony of his single-story house.

DRAGGED 20 METERS FROM THE BALCONY

The wild animal, attacking the elderly man in his sleep, took Gültaş from the balcony and dragged him approximately 20 meters towards the forested area. Upon notification of the seriously injured Gültaş, gendarmerie and 112 Emergency Health teams were quickly dispatched to the area. The unfortunate man, who received first aid at the scene by health officials, was urgently taken to Seferihisar State Hospital.

DIED IN INTENSIVE CARE

Osman Gültaş, whose condition was critical, was transferred to Dokuz Eylül University Hospital for further examination and treatment after intervention there. Gültaş, who was taken to the intensive care unit and started treatment, passed away this morning despite all efforts by the doctors.

FLEEING BEAR CAPTURED ON MOBILE PHONE CAMERA

A large-scale search operation has been initiated in the area by relevant teams to capture the bear that caused Gültaş's death. Meanwhile, the bear that fled the scene after the attack was captured moment by moment on a mobile phone camera by a nearby citizen.

The investigation launched by gendarmerie teams into the tragic incident continues in multiple directions.
