Beşiktaş Club reacted harshly to the broadcaster over the way the incidents in the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby were reflected on screen. The Black-Whites recalled that an instantaneous move by Dusan Vlahovic on the pitch was brought to the screen repeatedly and from different angles by the broadcaster, and described the failure to show the same broadcasting sensitivity in derby fights as a "double standard."
Beşiktaş Club issued a written statement regarding the way certain incidents in the Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby were reflected on screen and the broadcasting policy, and reacted to the broadcaster.
''THE VLAHOVIC INCIDENT WAS BROUGHT TO THE SCREENS MANY TIMES''
In the statement from the black-and-white club, it was recalled that in a match played in recent weeks, an instantaneous movement on the field by their player Dusan Vlahovic was brought to the screen many times and from different angles by the broadcaster.
EMPHASIS ON DOUBLE STANDARD
Arguing that the same broadcasting sensitivity was not shown in similar incidents in the derby match, the Beşiktaş management stated that the broadcaster had moved away from the principles of objectivity. The statement included the words, "The fact that this detailed broadcasting approach, displayed when it comes to our club and our players, was not applied in similar moments in the derby match is an unacceptable double standard."
Beşiktaş's statement is as follows:
"In the match played in recent weeks, an instantaneous action by our player Dusan Vlahovic was brought to the screen many times from different angles by the official broadcaster and presented almost as a file to the attention of the public and the Legal Consultancy of the Turkish Football Federation, ensuring that our player received a suspension from the competition.
On the other hand, at the moment of the mass brawl following the final whistle of last night's Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby, in which dozens of players were involved on the field and physical interventions and actual attacks were flying around, the attitude adopted by the same broadcaster became the registration of a double standard that will go down in Turkish sports history.
We ask clearly from here:
To the Broadcaster: When the subject is Beşiktaş, the close-up tracking reflex that is exercised—why does it give way to a wide-angle camouflage when it comes to the mass brawl of the other clubs in question?
Will you fully deliver to the authorized authorities the recordings from dozens of pitch-side, behind-the-goal and tunnel cameras regarding that brawl that you tried to conceal in the live broadcast?
Former referee Bülent Yıldırım, who works as a commentator on the Trio program on the broadcaster, was interrupted just as he was about to express his view on the incidents. This incident became concrete evidence that the broadcaster's executives intervene in broadcasts.
To the Turkish Football Federation: Will you exercise with the same determination for last night's brawl the ex officio evidence-gathering authority granted to you by Article 75 of the Football Disciplinary Regulation?
Will you request the raw director's recordings from the broadcaster in order to identify all contacts that may have escaped the eyes of the referees and representatives, and will you refer all players involved in the fight to disciplinary proceedings with the speed and sensitivity shown in the Vlahovic file?
As Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club, we remind you that we currently have a criminal complaint filed with the prosecutor's office regarding the double-standard broadcasting policy implemented by the broadcaster.
We respectfully announce to the public that we will follow moment by moment the stance, referrals and decisions that the TFF and its boards will take regarding last night."
Until the color of justice in this league becomes black and white, until the standard on the field is equalized for all clubs, we will not retreat even a single step from our struggle."
