The Deputy Mayor of Beykoz, Özlem Vural Gürzel, who switched from CHP to AK Party, responded to the criticisms from CHP members in the municipal council with the statement, "You have become my enemies because I stood as a barrier to your personal enrichment and did not allow you to misuse public funds."

The first meeting of the Beykoz Municipal Council in November was held at the municipal service building under the chairmanship of Özlem Vural Gürzel. During the off-agenda section of the meeting, CHP Council Member and former Deputy Mayor Melih Karakaya claimed that AK Party Council Member and Presidential Advisor Gaye Zayıf said, "They have consumed so much in nine months that we can hardly recover the municipality in six months."
CHP MEMBER'S WORDS CREATED TENSION
Continuing his remarks, Karakaya asked, "The acting mayor during the period he mentioned is still in the same position today. Additionally, two deputy mayors from that period are also currently in office. Is Ms. Gaye saying these words to the management team she is working with today? What will the acting mayor, who accuses us of not supporting, say about these words from her advisor?"
ACTING MAYOR ERUPTED WITH ANGER
In the discussion that arose from Karakaya's remarks, Özlem Vural Gürzel stated, "I do not want to be part of more chaos and conflict. The biggest reason for my conflict with you is that I am a barrier to your personal enrichment. This is public property. This money belongs to the public. You have become my enemies because I did not let anyone consume this. Everyone should know this, all the people of Beykoz should know this. Just as I do not need personal enrichment, I will not allow it either."
