The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, made striking statements regarding the process of a terrorism-free Turkey. Kurtulmuş said, "It is possible and inevitable that some jackals, lurking in their corners, will try to intervene in and disrupt Turkey's democracy and brotherhood process in some way. I believe that if we unite, we will definitely achieve results."

Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, met with representatives of civil society organizations and opinion leaders at the TPAO Conference Hall in Adıyaman. Kurtulmuş made striking statements regarding the process of a Turkey without terrorism.

KURTULMUŞ: "WITH THE DISARMAMENT, WE ARE STEPPING TOWARDS A STRONGER TURKEY"

Kurtulmuş stated: "Thank God, we are finally getting rid of the scourge of terrorism that we have been struggling with for 50 years, which has cost the lives of tens of thousands of people and caused the loss of thousands of our martyrs, and has led to trillions of dollars in material losses for Turkey. We are lifting the shackles that have been placed on our feet and casting them aside. For this, we are opening our way by standing together in unity and solidarity within the framework of law, justice, and equality. By eliminating the terrorist organization that has destroyed half of Turkey's approximately 102-year republican history, we are stepping towards a stronger Turkey in this complex Middle Eastern geography with the complete disarmament of weapons."

"THE POINT WE HAVE REACHED IS NOT TO BE UNDERESTIMATED"

Providing information about the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established in the Grand National Assembly, Kurtulmuş noted that a new phase has been entered with the organization's announcement of disarmament. Kurtulmuş stated, "In the coming days, with the security units of Turkey confirming and verifying that the weapons have indeed been laid down, the main framework of what can be done next will be discussed, and the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission established in the Grand National Assembly will refer the matter to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with a framework it will prepare."

Highlighting the progress made in the commission's work, Kurtulmuş said, "The point we have reached is not to be underestimated. I assure you, in conflict resolution processes encountered in other countries, the point reached in 5-6 years, or 7-8 years, Turkey has already reached in just one year. Hopefully, we will successfully complete this process." Kurtulmuş recalled how, during the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, countries were torn apart through the policy of divide, conquer, and rule, and how a vast empire was destroyed through ethnic and sectarian conflicts, as if it were yesterday.

"THIS GAME BENEFITS NOBODY IN THE REGION"

Numan Kurtulmuş continued: "In a short time, especially since the invasion of Iraq, we have all seen how the countries in the region have been fragmented, and how efforts have been made to turn peoples against each other. Iraq has been torn apart, Syria has been shattered, Lebanon has become ungovernable, Libya has been divided, and unfortunately, all the countries in the region have been thrown into a kind of internal turbulence... As you can see, in Sudan, people who are almost identical in every way are being turned against each other. Who has lost in all of this?

The peoples of this region have lost. The peoples of this region have been crushed. Their blood has been shed. Their cities have been looted. Their historical artifacts have been plundered. People have been turned against each other. For God's sake, can anyone say that in the last 20-25 years, Turks have won, Arabs have won, Kurds have won, Sunnis have won, Shiites have won? I will never forget a news story that appeared in Turkish newspapers during the most intense days of ISIS's activities in Syria and Iraq. It was a small news item. Sunni Turkmen and Shia Turkmen clashed in the city of Tuzhurmatu, resulting in a number of deaths. They managed to create divisions even among the same people, let alone ethnic or sectarian divisions. We must break this game. Believe me, this game benefits nobody in this region."

"WE WILL PROTECT OUR DIFFERENCES"

Kurtulmuş expressed that differences should be seen as a richness, stating that this region is not a country where outsiders can run wild. Kurtulmuş said, "This country is a land of a nation that will never allow itself to be crushed by the boot of a foreigner or the breath of a foreigner. Together, we will hopefully bring this together. Of course, we will protect our differences. Everyone will continue to exist as equal and free citizens of the Republic of Turkey within their own uniqueness." He stated that their path is one of brotherhood and well-being, and that they will continue on this path together.

"SOME JACKALS MAY TRY TO UNDERMINE THE PEACE PROCESS"

President Kurtulmuş concluded his speech as follows: "May God keep our path open. May God not give a chance to those who want to shackle this country. Of course, we know, feel, and see that a large majority in Turkey supports the work of this commission. Already, there are 11 political parties in parliament, with five party groups, and six parties participating individually. Except for one party, all are within the commission. Everyone expresses their opinion and provides great support. But we also see and know that some jackals may try to intervene in Turkey's democracy, peace, well-being, and brotherhood process from their corners, and may try to undermine it. If we unite and maintain this decision we have made together, I believe we will definitely achieve results."
