Under the patronage of Semiha Yıldırım, the wife of the Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Turkic States Organization, Binali Yıldırım, the opening program of the "81 Provinces 81 Kindergartens Project" initiated by the Turkish Red Crescent Istanbul Branch began with a performance by the Güzelyalı Imam Hatip Middle School's mehter team and a folk dance performance by the students of Atatürk Middle School.
Speaking at the opening, Binali Yıldırım stated that the idea for the project developed in the first half of 2016 and that a large part of it has been completed. Yıldırım said, "Before starting primary school, we are taking measures to better prepare our children for the future, just like the saying 'A tree is bent while it is young.' Education now starts at the age of 3, not 6. The education provided at ages 3-5 is so important that its multiplier effect is very high. The efficiency in kindergartens is incredibly high. The self-confidence, understanding of friendship, and solidarity of these little ones are developing. When they reach school age, they think very well about which direction to go and what job to do with confidence," he said.
"AS A COUNTRY, OUR POPULATION IS NOT INCREASING"
Yıldırım noted that children need to be raised more equipped, stating that the Istanbul Governorship is generating resources intensively to build schools, yet it takes time to meet the needs that have accumulated over the years. He emphasized the importance of preschool education, stating that the human capital is what moves countries forward, and continued: "As a country, our population is no longer increasing. This is a significant risk for our future. Population is very important."
"MONEY IS A DETAIL"
The recommendation of our President for 3 children is not a futile statement; there are concerns about the future of our country behind it. This year, the Year of the Family, our President also provided good news for families and newborns. For one child, there is a payment of 5,000 multiple times, for the second child, 1,500 every month, and for the third child, 5,000 every month. You might wonder if so many children can be raised with this money. Money is a detail. This may be symbolic, but the contribution that our children will make to the Century of Turkey is far greater than these amounts.
