Yazdan Taşdemir, a 39-year veteran teacher who had been working at Küçükçalık Anatolian High School in the İnegöl district for 3 years, passed away in the hospital where he was receiving treatment for stomach cancer. The father of two's death plunged his students and loved ones into mourning. A ceremony was held in the school yard for Taşdemir. Students left roses at the head of Yazdan Taşdemir's coffin, wrapped in the Turkish flag, while his colleagues and relatives could not hold back their tears.
"DEATH DID NOT SUIT YOU AT ALL"
Speaking at the ceremony, İnegöl District Director of National Education Halil İbrahim Zengin said, "I don't know what to say. Let me just say this; death did not suit you at all. We had so many things left to do. For this state, for this nation, for these students. If they asked me to describe you, I'd say 'The one who loves his homeland the most is the one who does his duty best.' You did everything with a love for the homeland, a love for the nation, to raise a generation, to dedicate yourself to a generation, even disregarding your own health, coming to school even when you were ill."
"TEACHERS ALWAYS TEACH US THE TRUTH AND THE BEAUTIFUL"
İnegöl District Governor Eren Arslan said, "Teachers always teach us the truth and the beautiful. Our teacher Yazdan is giving us his final lesson once again today. He is giving a lesson in humanity. I think he is explaining how to be human, how life should be lived. Every living thing is mortal and will one day taste death. That is the real truth. But ideas do not die; works remain. Our teacher's thousands of works, children, and students will hopefully keep his ideals, determination, patriotism, integrity, and dedication alive. May God grant us all such a life."
"HE WILL CONTINUE TO LIVE ON WITH BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES"
İnegöl Deputy Mayor Emin Dündar, who said Taşdemir was an exemplary person, stated, "He will continue to live on through the students he raised, the lives he touched, and the beautiful memories he left behind. Our pain is great, but we believe that the good services left behind are the best legacy for people," and offered his condolences to his family and relatives.
After the prayers held in the school yard, Taşdemir's funeral was laid to rest in Hamitler Cemetery following the noon prayer at İshakpaşa Mosque.
