A new development has occurred in the 34 million lira 'fictitious overtime' investigation conducted against Bolu Municipality. In the investigation carried out on the allegation that vehicles that did not provide garbage collection services were shown as if they had worked and that excessive payments were received from the municipality with fraudulent documents, 7 suspects, including Tanju Özcan, who was suspended from duty, were arrested.

A new development has occurred in the investigation regarding Bolu Municipality's garbage collection services, which was initiated on the claim that an excess and undue payment of 34 million 288 thousand 376 liras was made. Seven suspects, including Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who was suspended from duty, and Deputy Mayor Gülden Özaydın, were arrested.

CLAIM OF 34 MILLION LIRA 'GHOST OVERTIME'

It was stated that the investigation was launched over payments made by Bolu Municipality to the contractor company performing the garbage collection service.

According to the allegation, some garbage collection vehicles that did not provide service were shown as if they were operating, and fraudulent documents regarding these vehicles were prepared. Examinations revealed that a total of 34 million 288 thousand 376 liras was paid excessively and unduly to the contractor company through this method.

SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION IN 7 PROVINCES

Within the scope of the investigation, a detention decision was issued for 23 suspects, including Tanju Özcan, who was already arrested in another case and suspended from his post as Bolu Mayor, and Deputy Mayor Gülden Özaydın.

In simultaneous operations conducted by gendarmerie teams in 7 provinces on September 1, 22 suspects were detained. After their procedures at the gendarmerie were completed, the suspects were referred to the courthouse in groups.

7 PEOPLE, INCLUDING TANJU ÖZCAN, ARRESTED

Seven suspects, including Bolu Deputy Mayor Gülden Özaydın, were referred to the magistrate court on duty with a request for arrest after their statements to the prosecutor.

Following the procedures at the courthouse, Tanju Özcan, Gülden Özaydın, Basri B., Burak T., Faruk G., Fatih L., and Yılmaz E. were arrested.

Among those arrested are Bolu Municipality Acting Director of Cleaning Affairs Basri B., Cleaning Affairs Directorate staff and Inspection and Acceptance Commission President Burak T., MCY company official Faruk G., Yeşilçam company official Fatih L., and Yılmaz E., who signed the tender contract with Bolu Municipality on behalf of Yeşilçam Peyzaj Temizlik İnşaat Nakliye Sanayi Ticaret Ltd. Şti. by proxy.

16 SUSPECTS RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL

The other 16 suspects referred to the courthouse within the scope of the investigation were released under judicial control conditions.

Thus, the number of those arrested in the 34 million lira 'ghost overtime' investigation became 7, while it was reported that the judicial process of the investigation continues.
