Within the scope of the investigation, a lawsuit was filed against Uygun demanding a total of 18 years in prison for the crimes of 'encouraging suicide, strengthening the decision to commit suicide' and 'torment'.
According to the news in Sabah; The trial of the defendant Ümitcan Uygun regarding the death of Sema Esen continued at the Ankara 34th Heavy Criminal Court. While the lawyers of the parties were present in the courtroom, the defendant Ümitcan Uygun, who is in prison, attended the hearing via SEGBIS.
“ONLY A SLAP IS SEEN”
Taking the floor at the hearing, defendant Ümitcan Uygun made striking statements regarding the crime of 'torment' mentioned in the indictment, saying, "There is a video from 2-3 months before the victim's death. It is as if that video was taken on the day of the incident and they want to create the perception that I killed her. In the video, only a slap is seen. In my own statements, I have also expressed my statements regarding the crime of torment. If the allegations are true, let them set up a gallows in the middle of Kızılay and hang me."
“THE LACK OF A CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION IS THE BIGGEST DEFICIENCY”
Umur Yıldırım, the lawyer of the Esen family, stated that they are focusing on the allegations of instigating suicide, but it is necessary to clearly determine whether the victim ended her life by her own will or under another influence. The lawyer said, "It is also evident from the defendant's own messages that he constantly applied violence to the victim and regretted it. The defendant's sentence is about to end and his release is on the agenda. The lack of a crime scene investigation is the biggest deficiency. Therefore, we request the continuation of the defendant's arrest."
THE REQUESTED PUNISHMENT IS ANNOUNCED
In his opinion, the prosecutor demanded that Ümitcan Uygun be punished with a total of 18 years in prison for the crimes of 'encouraging suicide, strengthening the decision to commit suicide' and 'torment'. The panel granted additional time to the lawyers to respond to the opinion and adjourned the hearing to a later date.
