Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa dismissed Minister of Industry and Trade Nidal Shaar by decree and appointed Basel Abdulaziz Abdulhannan in his place.
According to a written statement from the Syrian Presidency, Shara signed Decree No. 189 regarding a change in the cabinet.
Under the decree, Minister of Industry and Trade Nidal Shaar was dismissed and Basel Abdulaziz Abdulhannan was appointed in his place. With the publication of the decree regarding the change of duty, Abdulhannan officially took office.

Nidal Shaar had been appointed as Minister of Trade and Industry in the cabinet announced by President Shara on March 30, 2025.
Syria's new Minister of Industry and Trade, Abdulhannan, was born in Aleppo in 1985. Abdulhannan, who graduated from the Department of Energy Engineering at Aleppo University in 2009, served as Minister of Economy in the government in Idlib between 2020 and 2024.
