Five-year-old Gülce Dora Turhan, who lost her life after being trapped under the rubble of the 7-story building that collapsed in Maltepe, was buried in tears at Başıbüyük Cemetery after the funeral prayer held at Maltepe Mimar Sinan Mosque. While mother Sevgi Turhan was carried from the hospital where she was receiving treatment to the mosque with the help of an ambulance and stretcher, footage of her shedding tears for a long time by her daughter's coffin broke hearts.
The 5-year-old child who lost her life in the building that collapsed in Maltepe on October 8 was buried in Başıbüyük Cemetery after the funeral prayer held at Mimar Sinan Mosque. The mother, who was brought from the hospital to the mosque with the help of an ambulance and a stretcher, shed tears at her daughter's coffin.
GÜLCE HAD DIED IN HOSPITAL
The incident occurred at around 05:40 in the 7-storey building on Doğu Street in Maltepe's Cevizli Neighborhood. According to the information obtained, a collapse occurred on the 3rd floor of the building for a reason not yet known. Following the report, search and rescue work was started by teams dispatched to the scene, and 10 people were rescued alive; 5 people lost their lives. Gülce Dora Turhan (5), who was taken from the building injured together with her father Furkan Turhan, her mother Sevgi Turhan and her older brother Harun Bora Turhan, lost her life in the hospital where she was taken.
MOTHER BROUGHT TO CEMETERY ON STRETCHER
A funeral prayer was held today at Maltepe Mimar Sinan Mosque following the noon prayer for Gülce Turan, who had not been buried because her mother Sevgi Turhan's treatment in intensive care continued. Istanbul Deputy Governor Cengiz Karabulut and Maltepe District Governor Mehmet Akçay attended the funeral, while Gülce Turhan's relatives and many of her loved ones were also present at the funeral. As mother Sevgi Turhan was transported from the hospital where she was receiving treatment to the mosque with the help of an ambulance and a stretcher, footage of her shedding tears for a long time at her daughter's coffin broke hearts. Following the funeral prayer, Gülce Turhan was buried amid tears at Maltepe Başıbüyük Cemetery.
