Famous singer Can Bonomo, who lost his father Yaşar Bonomo, laid his father to rest at İzmir Altındağ Jewish Cemetery. Bonomo, who accepted condolences at the funeral, was not left alone by his sister Funda Bonomo, his actress wife Öykü Karayel, and his father's wife Seçil Bonomo.
Singer Can Bonomo announced on his social media account that his father Yaşar Bonomo, who had been undergoing treatment for some time, passed away on October 17. The famous singer, who did not share details about his father's illness, addressed him as "my one and only friend" in an emotional farewell message.
In his post, Bonomo used the words "Growing up with you and being your son was an honor for me," and concluded his message with "May your cycle continue forever... Do not leave with regrets. I'll take it from here."

Some comments made on social media after the death announcement drew reactions. Can Bonomo's sister Funda Bonomo objected to the bringing up of her family's Jewish identity.
Funda Bonomo rebelled against what happened, saying, "If one person writes 'May God have mercy on him' in the comments, 30 people are talking about our Jewishness." She expressed her reaction with the words, "Are we not human? Doesn't it hurt us?"

It was seen that some social media users associated the phrase with car maintenance and made comments such as "May his cosmic journey be easy" and "May the fairies flutter."
Bonomo, who shared screenshots of the comments in question on his Instagram account, used the words, "I won't keep it inside. Look at these."
HE EXPLAINED THE MEANING OF THE PHRASE "MAY YOUR CYCLE CONTINUE FOREVER"
In his second post after the backlash, the famous singer explained the meaning of the phrase "May your cycle continue forever" in Sufi thought and the Alevi-Bektashi tradition.
Stating that this phrase has a cultural and spiritual history dating back centuries, Bonomo emphasized that in Sufism it expresses the return of existence from the Truth (Haqq) back to the Truth.
Bonomo included the following statements in his explanation:
"Being unfamiliar with the concepts of a culture is extremely natural. However, there is a serious difference between not knowing the meaning of an expression and devaluing that expression through our own limited world of knowledge."
The singer concluded his post with the words, "Because sometimes behind a few words lies the intellectual accumulation of centuries. And not everything a person does not know is meaningless."
