Canadian musician Neil Young has filed a $10 million lawsuit against U.S. President Donald Trump, who used his song 'Rockin' in the Free World' at an Ohio rally despite his promise not to use it in an election campaign again.
Canadian musician Neil Young filed a $10 million lawsuit because his song was played at Trump's October 12 rally in Ohio, despite a promise not to use it in an election campaign again. Young sued Trump and the Trump 47 committee that organizes his rallies.
TRUMP FACES $10 MILLION LAWSUIT
Young, stating that the piece in question was played at Trump's rally held in Ohio on October 12, sued Trump and the "Trump 47" committee that organizes Trump's rallies.
In the lawsuit text, in which the Canadian artist demands $10 million, the piece in question was described as "a fiery anthem that contrasts the empty promises of American political rhetoric with the harsh realities faced by the poor, the homeless and the forgotten."
"THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF EVERYTHING DONALD TRUMP STANDS FOR"
The lawsuit argued that the content of the song was "the exact opposite of everything Donald Trump stands for." Reminding that Trump had promised him not to use this song in an election campaign again, Young noted that the U.S. President did not keep his word.
Young had also sued Trump in 2020 for using the piece in his election campaign, but later dropped his complaint.
