The forest fire that broke out yesterday in the Gelibolu district of Çanakkale continues on its second day. Due to the fire, 7 villages have been evacuated; aerial footage has revealed the scale of the blaze.

In a statement, the Çanakkale Battles Historical Area Presidency announced that access to the northern line of the Historical Area has been halted due to the fire. "Access to the Northern Line of the Historical Area (Sunken Ship, Mimoza, 57th Regiment, and Conkbayırı) has been stopped until further notice for the safety of visitors, fire extinguishing efforts, and the protection of the area due to the ongoing forest fire near Eceabat district. Additionally, Bigalı Castle, Bigalı Atatürk House, and the Çanakkale Epic Promotion Center will also be temporarily closed to visitors. We respectfully announce this to the public," it stated.
7 VILLAGES EVACUATED
As a precaution, the villages of Yolağzı, Küçükanafartalar, Büyükanafartalar, Kumköy, and Karainebeyli, Ilgadere in Gelibolu district were evacuated. According to the latest statement from the Çanakkale Governorship, Beşyol village in Eceabat district was also evacuated as a precaution. Thus, the number of evacuated villages in the region has risen to 7.
