In an operation targeting those who adapted factory serial numbers of heavily damaged vehicles to seized vehicles and sold 'change' vehicles, 24 suspects were caught and 40 vehicles were seized in 5 provinces, centered in Istanbul.
THEY WERE DETERMINED TO HAVE OBTAINED UNFAIR GAIN
Under the coordination of the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate, in studies against auto theft, determined that suspects adapted factory serial numbers of vehicles rendered unusable due to traffic accidents, fires, and earthquakes onto seized and impounded vehicles obtained from abroad or the market, carrying out a 'change' process. It was determined that they made unfair profits by selling the 'change' vehicles to third parties through this method.
THEY WERE CAUGHT IN A SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION
In simultaneous operations carried out in Ankara, Bursa, Diyarbakır, and Sakarya, centered in Istanbul, 24 suspects were caught and taken into custody. Within the scope of the operation, 40 vehicles determined to have been 'changed' were seized and taken into safekeeping. The investigation continues.
