In the operation against the Tepebaşı Municipality in Eskişehir, proceedings were initiated against 60 suspects, and 23 people have been detained so far. Within the scope of the investigation conducted against Tepebaşı Municipality in Eskişehir, 23 of the 60 suspects for whom detention orders were issued were caught. DETENTION ORDER FOR 60 SUSPECTS
In a statement made by the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the investigation, coordinated by the Smuggling and Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, was initiated based on tips and complaints.
The investigation is reported to be carried out under the charges of;
- “Aggravated embezzlement in a chain manner”
- “Forgery of documents”
- “Violation of the Tax Procedure Law No. 213”
- “Laundering of assets derived from crime”
- “Abuse of office”
MASAK AND COURT OF ACCOUNTS REPORTS INCLUDED IN THE FILE
In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the investigation file includes;
- MASAK reports,
- Tax Inspection Board reports,
- Tax crime reports,
- Expert reports from retired Court of Accounts auditors,
- Reports from the Ministry of Interior Chief Inspectorate,
- Police forensic examination reports,
- HTS and base station analysis records,
- Bank transactions,
- Crypto asset accounts,
- Municipal documents and accounting records.
ALLEGATION: "UNFAIR GAIN OBTAINED THROUGH FAKE DOCUMENTS"
The investigation claims that irregularities occurred in some tenders conducted at Tepebaşı Municipality. It is alleged, particularly in rental and organizational service procurements made via direct procurement method within the Directorate of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs, that fake bid letters were prepared, misleading irregular documents were used, and invoices were issued without corresponding services or with inflated amounts. It is claimed that through these methods, municipal officials and third parties acted together to obtain unfair gains and cause public loss.
ASSETS CONFISCATED
It was announced that, in line with MASAK reports, assets of the suspects and companies deemed to have been unfairly acquired were confiscated. Within the scope of the investigation, legal proceedings were initiated against a total of 60 suspects, including 33 municipal officials, company executives, and other individuals.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION CARRIED OUT
In simultaneous operations carried out on May 14, searches and seizures were conducted at the addresses of the suspects. In efforts maintained by teams from the Eskişehir Provincial Police Department's Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate, 23 suspects have been detained so far.
ROOM BURIED IN THE GROUND AND CRYPTOCURRENCY MINING DEVICES FOUND
The luxury home of the detained private secretary also drew attention. During searches at the house, a hidden room buried in the garden was identified. Additionally, 9 smuggled cryptocurrency mining devices were seized at the address. It was learned that the investigation is continuing in multiple directions.
