In the Gelendost district of Isparta, children playing among the rubble of a collapsed abandoned house found a hand grenade. Bomb disposal experts dispatched to the area safely detonated the grenade in a controlled manner. An investigation revealed that the homeowner, who had died years ago, once told those around him, 'I brought a hand grenade as a souvenir from the War of Independence,' but no one believed him.

CHILDREN FOUND IT WHILE PLAYING

The incident occurred in the village of Yaka, connected to the Gelendost district. The abandoned house belonging to İbrahim Çengel, which had been unused for a long time and was decided to be demolished due to posing a danger, was torn down under controlled conditions using construction machinery.

After the demolition, children playing among the debris found a hand grenade. Upon the children reporting the situation to their families, teams were dispatched to the area.

In the investigation conducted by police teams, it was revealed that the homeowner İbrahim Çengel, who had passed away years ago, occasionally told those around him, "I brought a hand grenade as a souvenir from the War of Independence, I keep it hidden in the house." Villagers, however, stated that they did not believe these words at the time.

CONTROLLED DESTRUCTION

Under the instruction of the Yalvaç Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, crime scene investigation teams conducted work in the area. Bomb disposal experts who arrived at the scene destroyed the hand grenade, believed to date back to the War of Independence, under controlled conditions. It was learned that the investigation into the incident continues.
