The captain of a ship moving in the sea off Ortaköy in the Istanbul Bosphorus noticed a person motionless on the water and called out, "Are you alive? Hey! Are you living?" It was determined that the person taken aboard by the Coast Guard teams had passed away. It was established that the body belonged to 63-year-old Emin Şimşek, who had jumped from the July 15 Martyrs' Bridge to commit suicide.
An alarming incident occurred off the coast of Ortaköy in the Istanbul Bosphorus on Wednesday, December 31, around 1:45 PM. According to the information obtained, the captain, who was navigating a ship in the sea, saw a person motionless on the surface of the water.
"HEY! ARE YOU ALIVE?" It is claimed that upon noticing the person's hands moving, the captain called out to the person in the water, "Are you alive? Hey! Are you alive?" After receiving no response, the captain reported the situation to the Coast Guard Command teams.
JUMPED FROM THE BRIDGE TO COMMIT SUICIDE Teams that arrived at Ortaköy shortly after took the person, who was motionless on the water's surface, onto the boat and then brought them to the Ortaköy pier. Medical teams determined that the person, identified as male, had lost his life.
Emin Şimşek Police investigations revealed that the deceased was Emin Şimşek (63). It was discovered that Şimşek had arrived at the July 15 Martyrs' Bridge in a vehicle with license plate 34 PN 5707 belonging to Murat T. (35) around noon, exited the vehicle, climbed over the railing, and then jumped.
Şimşek's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue after the scene investigation teams and the Public Prosecutor's work.
