While the "absolute nullity" debates in CHP continue, many artists and their relatives have announced that they will not allow their works to be used by individuals and structures associated with this process. In consecutive statements from Zülfü Livaneli, Suavi, Selda Bağcan, Onur Akın, Grup Yorum, and Edip Akbayram's family, messages were conveyed that legal action could be initiated against the unauthorized use of works.
While debates over "absolute nullity" continue within the CHP, many artists and their relatives have opposed the use of their works by individuals and groups associated with this process. Zülfü Livaneli, Suavi, Selda Bağcan, Onur Akın, Grup Yorum, and the family of Edip Akbayram, who passed away last year, have issued successive statements declaring that they will not allow their works to be used.
The artists stated that they believe the process referred to as "absolute nullity" in public is incompatible with democratic values, and announced that they do not want their works to be used by the said individuals, groups, and organizations.
STATEMENT FROM ZÜLFÜ LİVANELİ
Artist Zülfü Livaneli, in a post on his social media account, stated that he does not allow the use of his works, using the following expressions:
"I do not permit the current CHP Headquarters, which came through nullity, to use my compositions."
SUPPORT MESSAGE FROM SELDA BAĞCAN
Artist Selda Bağcan also stated in her statement on her social media account that she does not want her works to be used:
"I do not permit the current CHP Center, which came through nullity, to use my voice, compositions, and recordings in any event, broadcast, or political activity."
SUAVİ: "I DO NOT WANT MY WORKS TO BE USED"
Artist Suavi also stated in his statement that he could initiate legal proceedings against the unauthorized use of his works, saying:
"I want to share that I do not want any of my works, whether owned or interpreted by me, to be used in any environment by those who came to power through nullity and their affiliates, and that I will follow up on any potential unauthorized uses."
JOINT STATEMENT FROM EDİP AKBAYRAM'S FAMILY
The family of Edip Akbayram, who passed away last year, also emphasized in a statement published on social media that the artist defended the values of democracy, freedom, popular will, and social justice throughout his life.
In the statement, it was noted that the process referred to as "absolute nullity" in public does not align with the democratic understanding embraced by Edip Akbayram, and it was expressed that the works interpreted by the artist will not be allowed to be used in political events by individuals, groups, and organizations seen as representatives or supporters of this process.
The family's statement also included the following expressions:
"It is our fundamental sensitivity that Edip Akbayram's art and legacy be preserved in harmony with the principles and values he defended for years."
ALİ ALTAY'S SONG REACTION
Artist Ali Altay also announced that he would not allow the use of a song he had previously gifted to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, using the following expressions:
"I apologize to Atatürk. I am withdrawing my song 'Rights-Law-Justice' from you!"
ONUR AKIN ALSO OBJECTS TO USE
Artist Onur Akın stated in his statement on June 3 that he does not want his works, prepared for the CHP and mentioning Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's name, to be used. Akın also announced that he would resort to legal action if the said songs continue to be used.
In his statement, Akın expressed that he was influenced by Kılıçdaroğlu's political stance in the past but feels disappointed due to the developments at the current point.
STRONG MESSAGE FROM GRUP YORUM
Grup Yorum also stated in a statement published on their official accounts that they oppose the use of their works for political purposes.
In the statement titled "You Cannot Exploit the People's Folk Songs for Your Dirty Politics!" the following expressions were included:
"We will never allow our songs to be used and defiled in your rallies, speeches, and videos. We will also expose the hypocrisy of those who use them wherever we are."
