The Minimum Wage Determination Commission met for the fourth time at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security at 8:30 PM to determine the minimum wage, which concerns millions of people in Turkey. While Akansel Koç, the General Secretary of TİSK, attended the meeting on behalf of the employers, TÜRK-İŞ decided not to participate on behalf of the workers. NEW MINIMUM WAGE IS 22,104 LIRAMinister Vedat Işıkhan announced at the beginning of the meeting that the net minimum wage, effective from January 1, 2025, has been set at 22,104 lira. Işıkhan also stated that employer support has increased from 700 lira to 1,000 lira. "WE WILL BRING THE DOME DOWN ON YOUR HEAD"CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir made harsh statements regarding the new minimum wage during his speech at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Emir stated that they would not accept this figure, saying, "We will bring the dome down on your head. We will make this government a burden for you." Emir used the following expressions: "'We will never accept this figure; millions will not accept it. 60% of the wage earners in our country are on minimum wage. This is a figure that will negatively affect all working groups. We will not accept this minimum wage. We will never bow down. We will bring the dome down on your head. We will make this government a burden for you.'"
