CHP's new spokesperson Müslim Sarı spoke about Özgür Özel's "congress" call. Sarı said, "CHP does not have the chance to hold a congress under current circumstances. There is a decision by the Regional Administrative Court, and this decision was made with an interim injunction. It is not possible to convene the congress."

CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı said in his statement, "The CHP currently has no chance to hold a congress. There is a decision made by the Regional Administrative Court, and this decision was issued with an injunction. It is not possible to convene the congress."

CHP SPOKESPERSON SARI'S STATEMENT ON THE CONGRESS

Müslim Sarı, the new spokesperson of the Republican People's Party (CHP), responded to Özgür Özel's calls for an extraordinary congress. Drawing attention to the court's injunction decision, Sarı stated that the party has no chance of convening a congress under the current legal conditions. Sarı emphasized that as long as the court decision is in effect, taking any step in this direction is not possible.

"IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONVENE THE CONGRESS"

Sarı said, "The CHP currently has no chance to hold a congress. There is a decision made by the Regional Administrative Court, and this decision was issued with an injunction. It is not possible to convene the congress."

KILIÇDAROĞLU WAS ASKED WHILE LEAVING HIS HOME IN THE MORNING

Meanwhile, Kılıçdaroğlu left his home and went to the Party Headquarters before the group meeting where CHP Chairman Özgür Özel was scheduled to speak. During this time, journalists directed the most debated topic of recent days to Kılıçdaroğlu.

A reporter asked, "The delegates collected the necessary signatures for the congress, what will you do when the signatures arrive?" Kılıçdaroğlu did not respond to the question and left the area by getting into his official vehicle.

111 DEPUTIES HAD CALLED FOR A CONGRESS

The spark for the debates in the CHP was ignited by a joint declaration signed by 111 deputies, including Özgür Özel. The deputies stated that the power to decide on the CHP's direction and administration lies with the delegates, and they called for an extraordinary congress to be convened on July 12, 2026.

The declaration also noted that if the party does not hold a congress by a certain date, it could face the risk of being unable to participate in elections.

27 DEPUTIES HAD NOT SIGNED

While 111 CHP deputies supported the call for a congress, 27 deputies did not sign the joint declaration. It was noteworthy that Oğuz Kaan Salıcı was among those who did not sign. In a later statement, Salıcı said he was not against the congress but did not sign because he did not find the content of the text appropriate.
