The MYK list of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the general chairmanship with a decision of absolute nullity, has been announced. Berhan Şimşek, who was expected to be the party spokesperson, was appointed as the Deputy General Chairman Responsible for Culture and Arts Policies.
The court ruled absolute nullity in the lawsuit filed for the cancellation of CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress and 21st Extraordinary Congress. Following the decision, it was announced that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would return to the party leadership, while Özgür Özel was temporarily suspended from duty. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu officially took office by coming to the headquarters after the holiday.
PARTY SPOKESPERSON WILL BE BERHAN ŞİMŞEK
The team of Kılıçdaroğlu's aides who will lead the party to the general election and the new term has been announced.
Berhan Şimşek, a Party Assembly member whose name was mentioned for the party spokesperson role, has been appointed as the Deputy Chairman responsible for Culture and Arts Policies.
HE HAD BEEN EXPELLED FROM THE PARTY
Şimşek was expelled from the party last year following Gürsel Tekin and Barış Yarkadaş, by a decision of the High Disciplinary Board (YDK).
Later, responding to Ahmet Hakan's questions on CNN Türk, Şimşek used harsh expressions against the party administration.
"THIS IS NOW İMAMOĞLU HOLDING"
Stating that CHP's DNA has been corrupted, Şimşek said, "This is now İmamoğlu Holding. Its boss is in Silivri. Its CEO is Özgür Özel, doing homing pigeon runs.
He flies to Silivri every Wednesday. He comes and implements what Ekrem İmamoğlu dictates. Ekrem İmamoğlu is the decider."
WHO IS BERHAN ŞİMŞEK?
Elected as a Party Assembly member at CHP's 10th Extraordinary Congress in 1999, Şimşek rose to an influential position in the party with nine terms as a PM and MYK member. Between 2002 and 2007, he served as a 22nd Term Istanbul Deputy in the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the National Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports Commission, and chaired the Turkey-Hungary Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group. In 2010-2011, he served as the CHP Istanbul Provincial Chairman; however, recent tensions with Özgür Özel and a joint press conference plan with Gürsel Tekin triggered a disciplinary process within the party.
