NEW Party Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz claimed that with an EPDK decision, starting from January 1, 2027, common-area electricity bills of apartment buildings, cooperatives, and housing estates for items such as stairwell automatic switches, elevators, and booster pumps will be increased by between 82 percent and 104 percent. According to Yavuzyılmaz, an apartment building that pays 9,864 TL in common electricity bills in 2026 will pay 20,112 TL in 2027 for the same consumption, and the increase will be directly reflected in maintenance fees.

YENİ Party Zonguldak MP Deniz Yavuzyılmaz claimed that with the decision taken by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), starting from January 1, 2027, electricity bills for common areas of apartment buildings and residential complexes will increase by between 82 percent and 104 percent.
Yavuzyılmaz, in a statement on his social media account, brought the new regulation regarding electricity consumption in common use areas of apartment buildings, cooperatives and residential complexes to the agenda. Yavuzyılmaz used the following statements:
HIDDEN ELECTRICITY HIKE ON APARTMENT DUES
"Attention all apartment residents! A hidden electricity hike is coming to apartment dues! With the decision taken by EPDK, effective from January 1, 2027; If the total amount of electricity consumed in common use (staircase timer, elevator, booster pump) by apartment buildings, cooperatives and residential complexes in 2026 is between 3 thousand kilowatt-hours and 4 thousand kilowatt-hours; In other words, if the annual total electricity bill is between 9,864 TL and 14,712 TL; The bills of common electricity meters will be increased by between 104 percent and 82 percent!
CLAIM OF DOUBLE BILLS FOR THE SAME CONSUMPTION
These increases will also be directly reflected in apartment dues. An apartment building whose common electricity meter bill totaled 9,864 TL in 2026 will pay 20,112 TL in 2027 for the same electricity consumption. The increase rate: 104 percent. The bill that totaled 14,712 TL in 2026, on the other hand, will rise to 26,808 TL in 2027. The increase rate: 82 percent. Result: The AKP's electricity hike will hit not only households' bills but also apartment dues!"
