Clashes broke out between gang members trying to take control of the Nazon, Lalue, Chirst Roi, and Bois Verna areas of Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, and the police. In the hours-long conflict, 28 gang members lost their lives. National Police Spokesperson Lionel Lazarre announced in a statement to the press that gang members were attempting to take control of certain areas, but security forces did not allow this. CIVILIAN POPULATION SET FIRE TO 20 INJURED GANG MEMBERSAccording to local media, the civilian population set fire to 20 gang members, including the injured. Due to the clashes, schools, workplaces, and public buildings were not operational, and the public could not leave their homes out of fear. Some posts on social media reported that armed gangs were making extensive preparations to launch another attack. According to the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), at least 1,223 people lost their lives and 522 were injured as a result of violence and gang confrontations in Haiti between just July and September.
