Clashes erupted again following the escalating tensions last week between the border forces of Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to TOLO News, based in Kabul, Pakistani forces launched a rocket attack on the Ali Sher district, located on the border with Pakistan in Afghanistan's Khost province, around 01:30. The clashes, which broke out after Afghan forces retaliated, continued until around 05:00. Many families were forced to leave their homes due to the conflict, while no details were shared regarding casualties. THEY HAD CARRIED OUT AIR STRIKESPakistani warplanes conducted airstrikes on December 24, claiming to target "camps belonging to the Pakistani Taliban (TTP)" in certain areas of Afghanistan's Paktika province, located near the border between the two countries. AT LEAST 46 PEOPLE HAD DIEDThe Afghan government announced that civilians were targeted in these attacks, with at least 46 people, mostly children and women, losing their lives. In retaliation for these attacks, Afghan forces targeted Pakistani territory on December 28, claiming to have killed 19 Pakistani soldiers. PAKISTAN'S TERRORISM ISSUEIn recent years, there has been a significant increase in terrorist attacks in provinces bordering Afghanistan, such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Armed groups, claiming to defend the rights of Pashtun and Baloch ethnic groups in both provinces, have been carrying out attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians. Islamabad claims that the TTP, which primarily conducts attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has established itself in Afghanistan and organizes its attacks from there, while the Afghan government denies these allegations. The Pakistani army has previously conducted attacks targeting TTP bases in Afghanistan's Khost, Paktia, and Kunar provinces, leading to increased tensions between the two countries' administrations.
