After the suspension of Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak from the DEM Party due to 'terror affiliation', DEM Party Co-Chair Birsen Orhan, who went to the front of the municipal building, said, "Just as they occupied Dersim in 1938, they are occupying our municipality again today," calling everyone to the streets.

The Ministry of Interior announced the suspension of Tunceli Mayor Cevdet Konak and Ovacık Mayor Mustafa Sarıgül, after which protest demonstrations began in Tunceli.
