In Kâğıthane, Volkan K., who strangled his wife Bedriye Karaçay, mother of three children, and dumped her body in a wooded area, has been arrested. In his statement, the suspect confessed that after the murder he chatted normally with his mother-in-law, and once the children fell asleep, he wrapped the body in a blanket and left it in the forest.
Bedriye Karaçay (27), a mother of three in Kağıthane, was strangled to death by her husband Volkan K. (30), and her body was later found in the wooded area of Sarıyer Ayazağa. The statement of Volkan K., who was caught by police teams and arrested by the court, has emerged.
BROTHER-IN-LAW REPORTED SAYING 'MY BROTHER IS A PROBLEMATIC PERSON' The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, at around 20:30 in Telsizler Neighborhood. According to the information obtained, Bedriye Karaçay, mother of three, disappeared after an alleged argument with her husband Volkan K. at home. When relatives could not reach the woman, Gökhan G. applied to the police in Ümraniye on Thursday, July 23, and complained, saying, "I haven't been able to reach my sister-in-law for 2 days. My brother, who is married to her, is a problematic person. He might have done something to her. I fear for her life."
In the investigation launched by the Missing Persons Bureau Office, the police took action to find Bedriye Karaçay, from whom no news was received. Volkan K., who greeted the police at the door of his home, said, "We had argued with my wife. She called a taxi and left the house. I don't know where she is now." While the police placed Volkan K. under technical and physical surveillance, security cameras related to the incident also began to be examined.
7-MINUTE DETAIL EXPOSED HIM In the studies conducted, it was determined that Volkan K. left his home with his car on Wednesday, July 22, at 03:45 and headed towards the wooded area in Ayazağa. Volkan K., who entered the wooded area with his vehicle, was seen returning rapidly on the same road approximately 7 minutes later. Following this development, during the search in the wooded area, Bedriye Karaçay's body wrapped in a blanket was found at the roadside. It was learned that the foot part of the body had been damaged by wild animals.
COLD-BLOODEDLY CONFESSED TO THE MURDER Following this development, the Missing Persons Bureau Office teams took action to catch Volkan K. The suspect Volkan K., who fled from his home in Gültepe to Ataşehir, was detained there. After his procedures at the police station were completed, the suspect Volkan K. was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
"I GOT ANGRY WHEN SHE DIDN'T ANSWER ME" It was learned that Volkan K. said in his statement at the police station, "On July 21, around 20:00-21:00, there was a marriage proposal ceremony on the street where my in-laws live. I also joined the entertainment on the street with my wife and children. While at the entertainment, I kept saying to my wife, 'Aren't you going to feed the children, what time is it?' but my wife didn't even answer me. We were at my mother-in-law's house at that time, and when she didn't answer, I got angry and said, 'Come on, let's go home,' and left my mother-in-law's house. My wife Bedriye Karaçay and my two children, aged 4 and 7, were following behind me. First I entered our house, and immediately after, my wife and 2 children entered."
CHECKED TO BE SURE SHE WAS DEAD In the continuation of his statement, Volkan K. said, "Inside the house, I had a jealousy argument with my wife Bedriye, and I told her, 'You're playing with your phone again constantly, do we have to eat at other people's houses?' When we started arguing verbally, I told my 2 children at home to go to their grandmother's, and my children left the house. As soon as the children left, we continued arguing in the middle of the living room area right in front of the entrance door of our residence. In that anger, I began to squeeze the throat of my wife Bedriye Karaçay, who was standing in front of me, with both hands. Bedriye made no sound; she reached her hand towards the door in a panic, but couldn't move because she was dead. After she remained motionless, I checked to see if she was dead and understood she was dead from her pulse and breath. At that time, probably due to the fall, blood was coming from Bedriye's nose."
"I CHATTED WITH MY MOTHER-IN-LAW AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED" Volkan K. said, "Meanwhile, my mother-in-law Durdane knocked on our outer door; my children were with her. She shouted towards the house 'Bedoş Bedoş,' but since I didn't answer, she left from in front of my door with the children. Then I sat in the living room and started thinking about what to do. I went to our bedroom, took the blanket that was spread on the bed, and laid it on the floor next to Bedriye in the living room. I grabbed Bedriye by the armpits and pulled her onto the blanket. Then I closed the blanket from both ends, went to the balcony to get the rope I had when selling fruit, and came back to the living room. I tied the blanket wrapped around Bedriye, as far as I remember, from the foot part, head part, and body part, and left her like that in the living room. I went out and went to my mother-in-law's house on my side street and told my mother-in-law Durdane, 'Your daughter ran away from home again.' My mother-in-law, as usual, told me, 'Don't worry, she'll come back.' Then, for about 1 hour, I chatted with my mother-in-law and the people on the street in front of the door as if nothing had happened. When I saw the children were asleep, that is, around 23:00, I went to my house alone and sat at home waiting for the street to completely empty."
"I LEFT THE BODY IN THE FOREST" In the continuation of his statement, Volkan K. said, "On July 22, around 03:30-04:00, I went to my car, a gray vehicle with license plate 52 AFA 881, owned by my mother-in-law, which I usually used, located about 10 meters below my house. I started the car and pulled it right in front of the house door, left it running, and went inside, picking up the corpse from the living room into my arms. When I reached the car, I put the corpse down to open the rear left door and opened it. I placed the corpse wrapped in the blanket on the back seat of the car. Then, since the car was facing uphill, I went down the street and connected to the main road. On the main road, because the car ran out of gas, I pulled over for a few minutes, switched the car from gas to petrol, and moved again towards the Ayazağa Forest. I knew the entrance of the Ayazağa Forest because I had previously worked there doing paper work at the junkyard. Also, since I collect kokina, I know the forest well. I had arrived at the forest about half an hour after leaving the house."
I entered the forest by car and pulled the car over there on the left side of the road, right next to where you found the body. I opened the rear left door and took Bedriye's body, wrapped in a blanket, and left it there. I got in the car and headed towards my own home. I came straight home without stopping anywhere," he stated.
"I WIPED THE BLOOD WITH A CLOTH" In the continuation of Volkan K.'s statement, it was learned that he said, "I checked the house to see if there was blood. In the living room, where Bedriye fell, on the linoleum that is always on the parquet, I saw one drop of blood, about 1 cm wide, flowing from Bedriye's nose. I went to the kitchen, took a yellow cloth from the kitchen, wiped the blood on the floor with it, and first threw the cloth into the trash in the kitchen, then threw that trash in a bag into the container on the street. I never had the vehicle with license plate 52 AFA 881, in which I carried the body and which was over my mother-in-law, cleaned; I did not take it to a car wash."
