During the protests that have been ongoing in Iran for 12 days, Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran, emerged with a message to the U.S. saying "I am ready" and called the people to the streets. U.S. President Donald Trump gave an unexpected response, implying that he did not wish to meet with Pahlavi, who declared himself the crown prince, and that he was not prepared to support this name in the event of the collapse of the Iranian government.
The Iran Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that the number of people who lost their lives in the protests that began due to economic issues has risen to 42.
NUMBER OF ARRESTS RISES TO 2,277
A report published on the website of HRANA, based in the USA, provided information about the protests that have been ongoing in the country for 12 days. According to this report, during this period, protests occurred in all 31 provinces of the country, resulting in the deaths of a total of 34 protesters, including 5 minors, and 8 security personnel. A total of 2,277 people have been detained nationwide.
BALANCE SHEET GETTING HEAVIER
It was stated that the injuries largely resulted from being hit by rubber and plastic bullets. No official statement has been made by Iranian authorities regarding those who have died or been injured in the protests. HRANA had reported yesterday that the death toll had risen to 38 and the number of detainees to 2,217 in its report for the 11th day.
TRUMP SHOCK TO REZA PAHLEVI
While the Tehran administration cut off internet and phone lines to prevent protests in the country, a shocking response came from US President Trump to Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran, who recently called on the public to take to the streets with a video he released.
"I DO NOT WANT TO MEET WITH HIM"
Speaking about Reza Pahlavi, who has been sending messages to the US saying "I am ready" at every opportunity, Trump implied that he did not want to meet with him and that he was not ready to support this figure in the event of the collapse of the Iranian government.
PROTESTS IN IRAN
The protests that began on December 28, 2025, due to the significant devaluation of the local currency against foreign exchange rates and economic issues, spread to many cities in the country, starting from the Tehran Grand Bazaar. The Tasnim News Agency reported that the number of injured police officers in the protests has risen to 568 and the number of militia forces (Basij) to 66.
US President Donald Trump, in his statements regarding the protests in Iran, said that if the protesters are killed, the US will rush to help and strike a severe blow to the Tehran administration. In a statement made by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on January 5, it was announced that there would be no tolerance shown to the protesters.
