The sale of breast milk on digital platforms has been banned on the grounds that it poses a threat to public health. In this context, heavy fines are being imposed on sales and advertisements made on e-commerce sites and social media platforms.

The Ministry of Trade has taken a firm step against a new e-commerce activity that threatens public health. In a written statement, it was announced that a complete ban has been imposed on the retail and electronic trade of breast milk. The Ministry explained the rationale for this decision as "serious risks to infant health."

BREAST MILK FOUND TO BE RISKY FOR TRADE

The statement emphasized that breast milk is an irreplaceable source of nutrition. However, it was noted that the milk sold among individuals poses SERIOUS DANGERS to infant health due to the uncertain conditions of milking, transportation, and storage.

SALES NOTIFICATIONS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

The Ministry received numerous complaints, especially on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, that some individuals have turned breast milk into a commercial commodity. In response to these developments, the Ministry also banned comments, promotions, and intermediary activities alongside sales advertisements.

SEVERE PENALTY FOR NON-COMPLIANCE: UP TO 684,000 TL!

Under the new regulation, according to the Law on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce No. 6563 and the Law on the Regulation of Retail Trade No. 6585, fines of up to 684,214 TL may be imposed on those who act contrary to the rules. Penalties will be applied to both sellers and platforms that facilitate this process digitally.

OBJECTIVE: TO PROTECT INFANT HEALTH

The Ministry of Trade stated that with this ban, they aim to protect both infants and the general health of society. At the end of the statement, all individuals were called to comply with this rule with sensitivity.
