Presidency's Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran, regarding the capsizing of a passenger ship off the coast of Girne, said, "Search and rescue efforts in the region are being carried out uninterruptedly by the relevant institutions. I extend my condolences to those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and wish patience to their families and loved ones."
"THE VAST MAJORITY OF PASSENGERS WERE SAFELY BROUGHT TO SHORE"

"The developments regarding the passenger ship that took on water and sank off the coast of Girne have deeply saddened us all. Within the scope of the search and rescue efforts carried out with the coordination of the relevant institutions of the TRNC and the Republic of Türkiye and the rapid intervention of the teams, the vast majority of the passengers were safely evacuated and brought to shore.
Search and rescue efforts in the region are being carried out uninterruptedly by the relevant institutions. I extend my condolences to those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and wish patience to their families and loved ones. I convey my well wishes to all affected passengers and crew."
