An explosive device left at the entrance of the apartment building of New Democracy party official Afroditi Nestora in Greece detonated. Her mother, Vagia Nestora, was killed in the attack, while Prime Minister Mitsotakis and opposition leaders condemned the incident.

In his written statement, Mitsotakis noted that the country would not return to the divisions of the past and that the government would act decisively in the fight against terrorism.

Expressing condolences to the family of the deceased Vagia Nestora, Mitsotakis shared the view, "Our pain will turn into strength and determination. Nothing will stop our country's progress."

Main opposition Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) President Nikos Androulakis also conveyed his sorrow over the death of ND official Nestora's mother in the attack.

Stating that those who carried out the attack must be apprehended, brought to justice, and punished, Androulakis commented, "In a society governed by a democratic and rule of law state, no tolerance can be shown for criminal acts."

Greek Left Alliance (ELAS) President Alexis Tsipras also expressed his sorrow over the death of Vagia Nestora following the attack.

Describing the attack as a "terrorist act," Tsipras offered condolences to the family of the deceased Vagia Nestora.

Emphasizing that terrorism has no place in democracy, Tsipras stated, "Human life is the highest value, and protecting it is our shared responsibility."

WHAT HAPPENED?

An explosive device, believed to have been prepared with a camping gas canister, was left at the entrance of the apartment building where ruling New Democracy party official Afroditi Nestora lives, and it detonated in the early morning hours.

In the explosion, five people were injured, including Nestora, her mother, and her father. Severely injured Vagia Nestora died at the hospital where she was taken.

Due to the blast, vehicles and motorcycles in the open parking lot were rendered unusable, and the fire caused damage to an apartment on the first floor of the building.

At the same time, similar devices left at the entrances of buildings where two politicians from the New Democracy party live in Thessaloniki also exploded, with no injuries reported in these two incidents.
