Famous actress İnci Türkay, who left her mark on memories with the character 'Betüş Peri' in the legendary series "Sihirli Annem" that defined an era, made a striking confession years later about her co-star Defne Joy Foster, who tragically passed away in 2011.
SHE TOLD FOR THE FIRST TIME
Türkay, who appeared as a guest on a program, shared the unknown aspects of her life, from her radical decision to move to London to her father's death. When the conversation turned to Defne Joy Foster, she couldn't hold back her tears and shared the great guilt she had carried inside for years for the first time.
İnci Türkay, talking about memories from the set, recounted that although the late actress had asthma, she smoked, and a minor rift occurred between them in the past due to a dog on set, but they quickly made up. Türkay made the truly heartbreaking statement about the famous actress's final hours before she passed away.
"I BEGGED A LOT FOR HER TO STAY HERE, SHE DIDN'T LISTEN"
İnci Türkay, revealing that Defne Joy Foster was actually at her own home on that nightmare night she died, described those final hours with these words: "On the night she passed away, she came to my home in Nişantaşı. She said to me, 'Let's go to Beyoğlu.' I was very weak that day, like I had the flu. I didn't want to go out, and I pleaded with her, saying 'Don't go, stay here,' practically begging. But she didn't listen to me, she left. Unfortunately, towards dawn, I received that painful news of her death."
"I STILL CHAIN THAT DOOR IN MY DREAMS"
The famous actress, admitting she couldn't recover for a long time after the great shock she experienced, stated that night was etched in her mind for a lifetime. Expressing the deep guilt she felt, Türkay said, "After her death, I sat in the living room for days, just staring at the wall. I relived that moment of her leaving the house countless times in my mind. I still close that door in my dreams, I chain the door so she won't leave... But in reality, she left."
Defne Joy Foster, one of the most cheerful and vibrant faces in Turkish television history, left behind her 2-year-old son Can Kılıç Solmaz when her sudden death plunged all of Turkey into mourning. İnci Türkay's confession, coming years later, revealed another unknown tragedy behind the actress's untimely death.
