Individuals close to Kılıçdaroğlu, who argue that the extraordinary congress cannot be held due to the precautionary decision, are preparing to initiate the ordinary congress process with the neighborhood delegate elections that will begin in the fall.
Efforts to establish a new delegate structure in CHP have accelerated. The party administration anticipates that the congress calendar, set to begin in September, will be completed by next spring.
PREPARATIONS FOR THE CONVENTION PROCESS HAVE BEGUN
The team close to CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who argues that the extraordinary convention cannot be held due to the injunction decision by the Court of Appeals, has taken action to initiate the ordinary convention process. According to news from Türkiye Gazetesi, General Headquarters staff, claiming that the will of the current delegates has been compromised for various reasons, plan to completely renew the delegate structure. The party administration is expected to finalize preparations for the convention calendar shortly.
THE PROCESS IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE UNTIL NEXT SPRING
Party officials, stating that district and provincial congresses will follow neighborhood delegate elections, indicated that the process will begin in September and be completed by next spring. It is noted that the legal process will be closely monitored while the congress calendar proceeds.
WILL EXPULSIONS CONTINUE?
It is stated that if the absolute nullity decision is finalized, Kılıçdaroğlu's staff will meet with deputies and party organizations to clarify the convention date. It is also discussed that the ordinary convention could be held in April or May next year. Allegations suggest that expulsion proceedings against deputies, mayors, and provincial and district organizations will continue during this process.
NEW PARTY CLAIM ON THE AGENDA
Meanwhile, it was alleged that Özgür Özel and his team, reported to have completed preparations to establish a new political party, could leave CHP and move to the new formation in case of a deadlock in the process.
Sources close to Özel claimed that approximately 70 deputies and many mayors are ready to take such a step. Staff argue that if this scenario occurs, the new formation would become Turkey's main opposition party.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED IN CHP?
At the 38th Ordinary Convention of CHP, then-Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel competed, and Özgür Özel was elected chair in the second round of the convention. Following the convention, some delegates and party members appealed to the judiciary, claiming that the delegates' will was influenced by various methods. Lawsuits were filed seeking the cancellation of the convention and the invalidation of its decisions.
"ABSOLUTE NULLITY" DEBATE BEGAN
During the legal process, the claim of "absolute nullity," meaning the convention is legally void, came to the agenda. Those supporting this view argued that if the court declares the convention invalid, the party administration could revert to the previous management. In response, the Özgür Özel administration argued that the convention was conducted democratically and in accordance with the law.
LEGAL PROCESS CONTINUES
While the case is being evaluated in various courts, the process has also intensified political debates within CHP. On one side, the current administration, and on the other, figures close to Kılıçdaroğlu, held different assessments.
NEW PARTY ALLEGATIONS EMERGED
Due to the legal process and possible decision scenarios, claims have emerged from time to time that a rift could occur within CHP and that some figures might move toward a new political formation. However, no official split or newly established party has been announced on this matter.
