Counterfeit food operation in Aydın: 3.5 million lira worth of products seized

In operations conducted by police teams in Aydın, unlabeled olive oil, honey, and dried figs with a market value of approximately 3.5 million Turkish Lira were seized. While action was taken against 4 suspects, an administrative fine of 680,000 Turkish Lira was imposed.

In Aydın, within the scope of efforts to prevent counterfeiting activities, unlabeled food products with a market value of approximately 3.5 million TL were seized in operations carried out by police teams in the districts of Efeler and Kuyucak.

MARKET VALUE 3.5 MILLION TL

Operations were organized by teams from the Aydın Provincial Police Department Security Branch Directorate in the districts of Efeler and Kuyucak on May 26, and June 9, 11, and 17, 2026. In the operations, 5,025 liters of unlabeled adulterated olive oil, 51 kilograms of unlabeled honey, and 825 kilograms of unlabeled dried figs, with a total market value of approximately 3.5 million TL, were seized.

680 THOUSAND TL FINE ISSUED

The seized products were confiscated, and legal proceedings were initiated against 4 individuals for violating Law No. 5996 on Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food, and Feed. It was learned that the suspects were fined a total of 680 thousand TL in administrative penalties.

Authorities stated that inspections and operations aimed at protecting public health and preventing consumer victimization will continue uninterrupted.
