Former judge Amil Ece, dismissed from his profession at the Istanbul Courthouse in 2019, attempted to obtain information about his nephew's case by introducing himself as an active judge and showing a fake ID. The truth was revealed upon the check made by the court clerk who suspected his contradictory statements. While Ece, caught in the cafeteria, was arrested, the 2 people with him were released under judicial control.

It was revealed that Amil Ece, a 55-year-old former judge who introduced himself as an active-duty judge at the Istanbul Courthouse, attempted to obtain information about a case using a fake ID. Ece, who was dismissed from the profession in 2019, was caught when the chief clerk, suspicious of his contradictory statements, conducted a check that uncovered the truth. Ece was arrested after being apprehended in the courthouse cafeteria, while the two people with him were released under judicial control.

CAME TO THE COURTHOUSE WITH A FAKE JUDGE ID

According to Sabah’s report, the incident occurred at the Istanbul Courthouse. Amil Ece, a 55-year-old former judge dismissed from the profession in 2019, went to the office of the chief clerk of the smuggling bureau, Oğuzhan Kötek, along with two other people.

Ece claimed to be actively serving as a civil court judge at the Anatolian Courthouse and showed the fake judge ID card he had with him.

Then, stating that there was a case file in which his nephew was listed as a suspect, Ece wanted to learn which prosecutor was handling the file in question.

CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS RAISED SUSPICION

During the meeting, the contradictory statements made by Amil Ece and the people with him drew the attention of chief clerk Oğuzhan Kötek.

Kötek then asked Ece for his judicial registry number. Ece, who hesitated to answer and tried to brush off the question, asked for permission, left the room, and quickly headed toward the elevators.

CALLED THE ANATOLIAN COURTHOUSE TO CONFIRM

With his suspicions increasing, Oğuzhan Kötek called the Anatolian Courthouse and asked whether there was an active-duty judge named Amil Ece.

Upon receiving the answer, “There is no such judge,” Kötek promptly reported the situation to the Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor.

Following the report, police and security teams took action. After reviewing security camera footage, the teams determined that Ece and the people with him were on the cafeteria floor of the courthouse.

CAUGHT IN THE CAFETERIA

Police teams attempted to detain the suspects in the cafeteria. Here too, Ece claimed to be a judge and caused difficulties for the teams.

During the teams’ checks, it was confirmed that the judge ID Ece showed was fake. Amil Ece and the two people with him were then taken into custody.

“I SAID I WAS A JUDGE TO EXPEDITE THE MATTER”

After procedures at the prosecutor’s office, Amil Ece and the two people with him were referred to the on-duty Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest.

In his statement, Ece argued that he said he was a judge to speed up the matter, claimed he had no personal gain, and rejected the charges.

Ece, who also claimed he found the ID, which was determined to be fake, on the ground, requested his release.

FORMER JUDGE ARRESTED

After the defense statements in court, it was decided to arrest Amil Ece. The two people with him were released under judicial control.
