After the 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Malatya, it was detected that the water in the Gündüzbey Intake, used for drinking water supply, became turbid. In a statement from MASKİ, a warning was issued: 'Until the water clarity returns to normal levels, our citizens are kindly requested to be cautious in their drinking water usage as a precaution.'
In statements made by Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Malatya Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate (MASKİ) and the Governorship of Malatya, it was stated that natural movement occurred in water resources due to the earthquake, and therefore temporary turbidity was observed in the water supplied to the network.

In MASKİ's statement, "After the 5.6 magnitude earthquake in our Battalgazi District, turbidity occurred in our Gündüzbey Water Intake used for drinking water supply. Due to the natural movement in water resources caused by the earthquake, temporary turbidity is observed in the water supplied to the network. Our teams are meticulously continuing necessary inspections, controls, and water analysis studies in the region. The process is being closely monitored to protect the health of our citizens, and necessary technical interventions are ongoing without interruption."
