A warning has been issued regarding the penalties that vehicle owners who do not have exhaust gas emission measurements conducted by TÜVTÜRK as of 2026 may face. TÜVTÜRK reminded that passenger vehicles must have emission measurements every two years after they reach 3 years of age, while commercial vehicles are required to have them annually. It was noted that drivers who do not have exhaust emission measurements conducted face fines of up to 17,957 lira, and vehicles with emission values exceeding the legal limit can be fined up to 35,936 lira.
TÜVTÜRK issued a striking warning regarding the penalties that vehicle owners who do not have exhaust gas emission measurements will face starting from 2026.
THERE IS A FINE OF 36 THOUSAND LIRA
According to a statement from the company, exhaust gas emission measurement, which plays an important role in preventing air pollution caused by vehicles, is mandatory as a complementary part of the vehicle inspection system. In inspections conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, drivers without a valid measurement face an administrative fine of 17 thousand 957 lira, while vehicles with emission values exceeding legal limits can be fined up to 35 thousand 936 lira.
CANNOT PASS INSPECTION
The absence of measurement is considered a "serious defect" within the scope of periodic vehicle inspection, and vehicles in this situation cannot pass the inspection. According to the current legislation, passenger vehicles must have measurements every two years after they reach 3 years of age, while commercial vehicles are required to have measurements every year starting from the end of the first year.
