In the brutality that occurred in Edirne last year, it was revealed that Ömer Gökhan Alacı, who strangled his arguing wife and their 9-year-old son to death, wrote "Forgive me" in blood on the ground after the incident.
The trial of Ömer Gökhan Alacı, who strangled his wife Didem Örs Alacı (38) and their son Doruk Kaan Alacı (9) before attempting suicide with a knife, has begun with a request for two life sentences.
The incident occurred on August 4, 2025, in an apartment on 3043rd Street in Cumhuriyet Neighborhood. Ömer Gökhan Alacı, an accountant, had an argument with his wife Didem Örs Alacı, who worked at a call center, due to financial issues. During the argument at home, Ömer Gökhan Alacı first strangled his wife and then his son Doruk Kaan Alacı. The next morning, mother Meliha Örs called her daughter Didem to invite her for dinner but could not reach her. Later, Örs called her son-in-law, stating that she could not reach her daughter and wanted to talk to her. Ömer Gökhan Alacı, who said his wife and child were asleep, hung up the phone. The family, unable to reach their daughter, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center, and police, health, and fire teams were dispatched to the address. The teams found Didem Örs Alacı and her son Doruk Kaan Alacı's lifeless bodies, along with Ömer Gökhan Alacı, who had cuts on his wrists from a knife. Alacı was taken to Trakya University Medical Faculty Hospital for treatment.
ILLEGAL BETTING
In the indictment prepared by the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a request for two life sentences for Ömer Gökhan Alacı was made for the crime of 'deliberate murder with monstrous feelings.' The indictment stated that at the crime scene, a box cutter and a black-handled knife with blood stains were found, along with a message written in blood on the floor saying 'Forgive me.' Additionally, it was noted that Ömer Gökhan Alacı opened an account with the username 'Kaan6722' on an illegal gambling site in the name of his son Doruk Kaan.
TRIAL HAS BEGUN
The trial of the defendant Alacı began today at the Edirne 2nd High Criminal Court. The defendant Ömer Gökhan Alacı could not attend the hearing due to health problems, while Didem Örs Alacı's mother Meliha and father Ahmet Örs, along with the parties' lawyers, attended. Speaking in court, Ahmet Örs stated that his son-in-law had shown him no disrespect and mentioned that if there were financial issues, they had not been reflected to them. Örs recounted that they had sat together in the house where the incident occurred the night before, discussing his grandson Doruk Kaan's school situation and some family matters. He said he was one of the first to enter the house after the incident the next morning and saw the message 'Forgive me' written in blood next to Alacı's body.
SENT A MESSAGE TO HER SISTER 'DIDEM TOOK MEDICINE, SHE IS SLEEPING'
Didem Örs Alacı's sister Duygu Özpelvan stated that on the day of the incident, her sister was supposed to come to breakfast, and she called and texted multiple times when she did not arrive. Özpelvan noted that she tried to reach her several times and that Ömer Gökhan Alacı had sent her a message saying, 'Didem took her medicine, she is sleeping. She will come to you in the afternoon.' The court adjourned the hearing to April 3 due to the inability to take the defendant Alacı's statement.
'WE WILL DO EVERYTHING FOR DIDEM AND DORUK'
After the hearing, the family's lawyer Erdi Ertek stated, "The defendant did not attend under the pretext of going to the hospital. We are waiting; the next session is on April 3. We will be here again, and we will do everything for Didem and Doruk until the end. The fact that the defendant has escaped this session does not mean he will escape until the end. We will ensure he is punished in the harshest way possible."
