A recall has been issued for Lay's potato chips, one of the popular brands in the snack world. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that the recalled potato chips pose a risk of fatal allergic reactions.
One of the most popular brands in the snack world, Lay's potato chips, has been involved in a serious recall process.
'LIFE-THREATENING' RISK
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an alert in the 'Class I' category, the highest risk level, due to the presence of an undeclared milk component in Lay's brand chips. This category means that the brand's products could lead to allergic reactions that pose a 'life-threatening' risk.
SCOPE OF THE RECALL
In the recall process that began on December 13, 2024, Lay's parent company Frito-Lay first announced that a milk component was identified in over 6,000 chip packages sold in Oregon and Washington states. Following this error, which poses serious health risks to individuals with milk allergies, the FDA elevated the recall to 'Class I' level on January 27, 2025. The decision not only serves as a warning but also reminds us of the importance of food safety.
INFORMATION ON RISKY PRODUCTS SHARED
The FDA warned consumers not to purchase products with a "best before" date of February 11, 2025, and containing the production codes "6463307xx" or "6462307xx." The FDA noted that the process is being carried out swiftly to completely remove the risky products from the market.
STATEMENT FROM FRITO-LAY
Following the development, Lay's parent company Frito-Lay announced that they have not received any reports of allergic reactions related to the recalled products so far. However, it was stated that the products were recalled as a precaution against potential health risks.
