The decision regarding rapper Lvbel C5, who was taken into custody over the lyrics of his song titled "Kahpe" on the charge of "openly inciting to commit a crime" and referred to the criminal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest, has been announced. The court rejected the prosecutor's request for arrest and issued a judicial control decision for the artist. In the decision issued for Lvbel C5, who was imposed a ban on leaving the country and an obligation to sign in twice a week, the most striking detail was the requirement to receive Turkish literature education.
The arrest request for rapper Lvbel C5, about whom an investigation was launched because of the lyrics of his song “Kahpe,” was rejected. The court decided to impose a ban on leaving the country and an obligation to sign in two days a week on the artist, whose real name is Süleyman Burak Bodur. It was also ruled that the rapper continue his education in Turkish literature.
“KAHPE” SONG BECAME THE SUBJECT OF AN INVESTIGATION
Lvbel C5 was detained as part of the investigation conducted because of the lyrics of the song “Kahpe,” which he performed together with Asya Alizade. The rapper, whose statement was taken in the investigation conducted by the Press Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was referred to the magistrates' court with a request for arrest on the charge of “publicly inciting the commission of an offense.”
ARREST REQUEST REJECTED
The judgeship rejected the prosecutor's arrest request and ruled that judicial control measures be applied to Lvbel C5. Under the decision, the rapper was banned from leaving the country and was required to go to the police station and sign in on Mondays and Wednesdays.
HE WILL CONTINUE HIS EDUCATION IN TURKISH LITERATURE
One of the striking details of the decision was the condition that Lvbel C5 continue his education in Turkish literature. This obligation, imposed as part of the investigation conducted because of the song lyrics, was among the prominent points of the decision.
“I HAVE NO SPECIFIC INTENT IN THE LYRICS”
In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Lvbel C5, who was said not to accept the accusations, argued that he wrote the lyrics using his imagination. It was reported that the rapper claimed that some of the statements at issue belonged to Asya Alizade, with whom he duetted, and said that after becoming aware of the complaints, he removed the song from digital platforms.
