The traffic data announced by the Ministry of Interior regarding the Ramadan Bayram holiday revealed a first. According to the disclosed data, thanks to the citizens' compliance and sensitivity to traffic rules, the number of fatal accidents during the 4-day holiday decreased from 38 to 23, marking a 39.5% reduction. During this period, the number of fatalities at the accident scene also fell from 44 to 31.
The Ministry of Interior announced the traffic data related to the Ramadan Bayram holiday. It was reported that there was a significant decrease in fatal accidents and loss of life thanks to citizens adhering more to traffic rules and increased inspections.
2,753 ACCIDENTS OCCURRED
According to the data from the General Directorate of Security and the General Command of Gendarmerie, a total of 2,753 traffic accidents occurred nationwide during the four-day Ramadan Bayram holiday.
In the accidents, a total of 31 citizens lost their lives, with 8 on the first day of the holiday, 12 on the second day, 4 on the third day, and 7 on the fourth day. In the same accidents, 4,861 people were injured.
39.5% DECREASE IN FATAL ACCIDENTS
According to the comparison of data from 2023 and 2026, the number of fatal accidents decreased from 38 to 23, showing a reduction of 39.5%.
The loss of life at the accident scene decreased from 44 to 31, indicating a 29.5% reduction.
During the same period, the number of injury accidents decreased from 3,085 to 2,730, and the number of injured decreased from 5,594 to 4,861. The daily average loss of life also decreased from 11 to 7.75.
INSPECTIONS WILL CONTINUE
In the ministry's statement, it was emphasized that inspections and awareness-raising activities would be carried out with determination to enhance traffic safety.
