In the Köyceğiz district of Muğla, a verdict was reached in the case of Yunus Korkut, who allegedly beat his wife, Ummuhan Korkut, causing her death. After the incident, the young woman was taken to the hospital with a report of "fainting" and was found to have signs of beating on her body, losing her life after a week-long struggle. In the case filed against the defendant, who was detained and arrested, the court sentenced Korkut to 14 years in prison for the crime of "intentional injury resulting in death against a spouse."
In the Köyceğiz district of Muğla, Yunus Korkut (34) was sentenced to 14 years in prison for allegedly beating his wife, Ummuhan Korkut (25), causing her death.
INCIDENT REVEALED AT THE HOSPITAL
The incident occurred on January 21, 2025, in Beyobası Neighborhood. After Yunus Korkut called the 112 Emergency Call Center to report that his wife had fainted, Ummuhan Korkut was taken to the hospital, where signs of beating were found on her body. It was determined that the young woman had a brain hemorrhage, and she was taken to intensive care after surgery.
SHE DIED 1 WEEK LATER
Ummuhan Korkut, whose condition was critical, died a week later at the hospital where she was being treated. After autopsy procedures, her body was buried in Beyobası Neighborhood.
ARRESTED AND INDICTED
Yunus Korkut, taken into custody on the orders of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, was arrested by the court he was brought to. The defendant was charged with "attempted murder of a spouse."
COURT ISSUES 14-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE
In the verdict hearing held at Muğla 1st Heavy Penal Court, the defendant was sentenced to 14 years in prison for "intentional injury resulting in death of a spouse." The court did not apply discretionary reduction, considering the manner of the crime and the intensity of intent.
