Following the establishment of the NEW Party in Kırklareli and the developments at the headquarters level, another resignation was added to the process. Lüleburgaz Mayor Murat Gerenli, the last CHP mayor in the city, announced that he resigned from party membership.
Murat Gerenli, the Mayor of Lüleburgaz, ended his membership in the Republican People's Party (CHP), citing the appointments made to the Kırklareli Provincial Organization as the reason.
A new link has been added to the wave of resignations that began across Kırklareli following the new restructuring under Özgür Özel's leadership in the CHP and the process of the NEW Party. After the departure of 9 municipal mayors in the city earlier, Dr. Murat Gerenli, the Mayor of Lüleburgaz and the only remaining figure under the CHP umbrella, also announced his resignation decision.
"IT IS INCOMPATIBLE WITH MY PRINCIPLES AND POLITICAL ETHICS"
In a written statement published on his social media account, Gerenli reacted to the management approach within the party. The Mayor of Lüleburgaz, who shared the reasons for his decision with the public, used the following statements:
"These developments, which began with a process of absolute nullity and continued with the recent appointments made to the Kırklareli Provincial Organization, are incompatible with my principles, value judgments, and understanding of political ethics; therefore, I am leaving my membership in the Republican People's Party. As I promised the people of Lüleburgaz when I first took office, I will continue to serve with a transparent and accountable approach, committed to the universal values of social democracy, in the light of Atatürk's principles and revolutions."
NO CHP MAYOR REMAINS IN KIRKLARELİ
With Murat Gerenli's resignation, the CHP lost all mayoralties across Kırklareli. While no party-affiliated mayors remain in the city, it was learned that Gerenli will continue his duties as an independent.
