The co-chair of the DEM Party, Tuncer Bakırhan, apologized for his statements regarding the village guards and said, "It may have been misphrased, I had no intention."
DEMP Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, who met with farmers in Muş, stated, "When the conflicts end, we will not leave the village guards unemployed. Take the weapon from their hands, give them a stick, let them take care of the animals in the village. It is a more honorable duty."
RESPONSE FROM THE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE
These words, criticized for harming the process of a terrorism-free Turkey, also received a response from the Ministry of National Defense. In a statement made by the ministry, it was said, "Our Security Guards, who serve shoulder to shoulder with our Turkish Armed Forces and security forces, showing great courage and becoming martyrs and veterans without blinking an eye, are the real heroes of the fight against terrorism. Statements targeting our Security Guards, who always stand by the state as a beautiful example of state-nation unity, will remain nothing more than a futile effort in the face of our nation's vast foresight and spirit of unity and solidarity."
TUNCER BAKIRHAN APOLOGIZED
Tuncer Bakırhan, who apologized for his words during a live broadcast, said, "The guards are a result of the current impasse. It is a ground that has emerged because the Kurdish issue has not been resolved. If this issue is to be resolved, of course, a solution must also be found for them. That’s what I meant, but if the guards' hearts were broken... It may have been expressed incorrectly. I apologize. I had no intention."
"NO DISPARAGEMENT, NO DEGRADATION"
Continuing his words, Bakırhan said, "This is a very deep topic, but I may not have expressed it fully," adding, "There was no other intention here, you can be sure of that. Maybe the Turkish public does not know. My family is currently engaged in livestock farming. We derive our entire livelihood from there. We have bees, we have animals, we raise them, we sell them. Our entire livelihood comes from that. So there is no intention, no disparagement, no degradation here."
