Dervişoğlu: 'They will hold rallies for Öcalan's freedom, and I will go to Tandoğan Square.'

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu directed sharp criticism at the government over counterterrorism efforts and the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, announcing they will hold a "Respect for Martyrs and Curse Terrorism Rally" at Ankara Tandoğan Square on June 27. Dervişoğlu said, "So, they plan to hold 'Freedom for Öcalan' rallies on June 27-28. I will take the Turkish nation behind me and go to Tandoğan Square."

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu spoke at his party's group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. In his speech at the TBMM group meeting, Dervişoğlu harshly criticized the government over the fight against terrorism and the 'Terror-Free Turkey' process. Saying 'The nation's will is not in İmralı, but in this Parliament,' Dervişoğlu reacted to claims of preparations for amnesty for PKK members and announced they would hold a 'Respect for Martyrs and Curse on Terror Rally' on June 27 at Ankara Tandoğan Square.

"A BLINDFOLD IS BEING DROPPED OVER THE NATION'S EYES WITH A DISTRACTION TRICK"

Stating that the same issue has been covered on news channels for two weeks, Dervişoğlu said, 'There is only one headline, one agenda. And this issue is being treated as purely a party matter, a conflict of individuals. When you watch those screens, you'd think nothing else is happening in the country, only a 'fair competition' within a political party. As if no one intervened, the problem arose on its own, and Turkey is dealing with that problem. Moreover, this problem has made us forget all our other problems: inflation and the high cost of living have disappeared, the economic program is running smoothly. Retirees and minimum wage earners have received their due, their labor has been compensated, the unemployment issue has been overcome, farmers are getting paid for what they produce, we no longer have a security problem; women, young people, and children are safe; tradesmen, merchants, and industrialists are satisfied; in foreign policy everything is rosy; we are experiencing a spring of law, justice, and democracy, right? One feels like saying, 'What a sham!' While all these problems that gnaw at, consume, and kill our values, our lives, our truths are evident, a blindfold is being dropped over my nation's eyes with this deliberately staged 'distraction trick.' Who is the cause? The government and its allies. Who is the cause? The government and its foreign partners. Who is the cause? Those who do not speak up, those who do not object,' he said.

"THE ENTIRE TURKEY HAS BEEN TURNED INTO A COMPANY"

Stating that the state order has gone haywire since the transition to the Presidential Government System, Dervişoğlu said, 'Remember, when our forests burned for days, institutions waited for hours to intervene. Why? Because even ministers had to use the phrase 'with the instructions of our President' just to board a plane. Now we are entering the fire season again. We will understand how prepared the government is by how many acres of forest burn, God forbid. The entire Republic of Turkey has been turned into a company managed by a single signature, a single decision, distributing dividends to a single group. Loyalty to the boss has become the sole purpose. Let me not pass without saying. Hey friends, there's no point in all of you turning black like grapes looking at each other. You can have ideas, virtues, but do your job, brother. Do the tasks that are your duty,' he said.

"THE MARKET BAG IS ENOUGH TO TELL THE TRUTH OF THE NUMBERS"

Then, referring to the inflation data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute on June 5, Dervişoğlu said, 'Annual inflation is 32.61 percent. The Central Bank has raised its year-end target from 16 percent to 24 percent. So when they can't hit the target, they move the target up. Thanks to those who said 'we wrote the book on the economy,' today we are running for the championship in the world misery league. We are racing for the gold medal in the 'who will manage the worst' Olympics. In the past, a worker could buy a modest house to shelter his head with the severance pay he received when he retired, or hold his child's wedding. Now what does he do? He pays off the debts he took from hand with his severance pay, pays the minimum on his card, and calculates how to make ends meet. Since January, the five-month inflation exceeds 16 percent. This rate is the rate of our melting purchasing power. It is the rate of the olives and cheese missing from our tables. While this fire has engulfed everywhere, while we wake up to a new hell every morning, government spokespeople who should be taking action come out, ask for patience, give thanks advice, and tell fake success stories with the numbers they play at the desk. Yet just a market bag is enough to tell the truth of the numbers. The tears of mothers who send their children's lunch boxes empty show that the knife is at the bone. I am calling out to those who think they rule this country, to those who prefer the palace's prestige over the citizen's honor. Your vote calculations in those palaces, intrigues, tricks, desk number games, and so-called success shouting will not save you. We are coming shoulder to shoulder with our nation. We are coming to destroy that haram sultanate and give the nation its halal right as pure as a mother's milk,' he said.

"THE NATION'S WILL IS NOT IN İMRALI, BUT IN THIS PARLIAMENT"

Dervişoğlu also said, 'The DEM Party Deputy Speaker of the Parliament came out, met with İmralı, returned, and said 'A root law will be prepared.' What is it? The way will be opened for certain organization members to come to Turkey. For this, they will hold freedom rallies for the baby killer in İmralı. I do not find it strange at all. If you call the murderer in İmralı a 'founding leader,' if you send a commission to his feet, if you read his messages at squares during Nowruz celebrations, this is what happens. No matter what we say, it is too little, no matter what we say, it is useless. I say clearly and openly; this nation has not forgotten the tears of martyr mothers. This nation paid the price of terrorism with its young saplings. You cannot reset those paid prices behind closed doors by saying 'just this once.' The nation's will is not in İmralı; it is in this pulpit, in this Parliament. Our stance is to defend the sovereignty of this will,' he said.

RALLY CALL AT TANDOĞAN

Claiming that proposals like a 'root law' aim to grant amnesty to PKK members, Dervişoğlu stated that freedom rallies would be held for PKK ringleader Abdullah Öcalan, and that the İYİ Party would hold a 'Respect for Martyrs and Curse on Terror Rally' on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Ankara Tandoğan Square.

Dervişoğlu said, 'What is it? They will hold 'Freedom for Öcalan' rallies on June 27-28. Let them go ahead. They think Turkey is unowned. No matter which square you go to on June 27. As Müsavat Dervişoğlu, I will take the Turkish nation behind me and go to Tandoğan Square.
