Former national volleyball player Derya Çayırgan was detained yesterday as part of the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM). After her statement was taken by the prosecutor's office, the court she was referred to imposed a judicial measure of "prohibition from leaving her residence and a travel ban abroad."
POOL RESIDENCE CAPTURED
It was learned that Çayırgan mentioned in her statement, "I saved money, I bought a house." The luxurious residence with a pool in Beylikdüzü, which Çayırgan claimed to have "saved and bought," was captured from the air.

On the other hand, it was learned that the average value of the apartments in the luxury residence site in question has reached 7 million in the second-hand market today.
MONEY MOVEMENT IN THE MASAK REPORT WAS DEFENDED LIKE THIS
The MASAK report included information that Çayırgan paid Kameroğlu Construction 20,000 TL, 32,000 USD, and 62,570 TL separately. Regarding this money movement, Çayırgan stated, "Before 2021, I did not deposit the money I earned into the bank, but after 2021, I converted some of the money I saved into foreign currency and deposited it into my bank account. I evaluated this money in different ways at the bank. This will be visible in the MASAK reports. The 50,000 euros I deposited into my account in cash on June 16, 2023, also comes from these savings. On June 15, 2023, I sent 20,000 TL to Kameroğlu Construction, and on June 16, 2023, I sent 32,000 USD and 62,570 TL to buy a house. The explanation for the 62,570 TL was 'We are winning,' which was completely related to the national volleyball team process; it was a statement of joy. I had no other purpose. I met with Adem Kameroğlu three times to negotiate a discount for buying the house. I took possession of the deed on June 19, 2023. I deposited the 50,000 euros I had into my account to buy this house. As I mentioned, this money is my own money. It is not money given to me by others," she said.
"I DON'T REMEMBER THE DETAILS"
"It has been determined that you sent 32,000 USD and 62,570 TL to Adem Kameroğlu's account on the same date as the 50,000 euros deposited into your account on June 16, 2023. Although you stated in your testimony that you bought the house with this 50,000 euros, why did you feel the need to send the money in dollars and TL?" In response to this question, Çayırgan said, "I don't know why I did such a thing at that time; I may have done it under the guidance of the banker. As I stated, this 50,000 euros is my savings. As I said, since time has passed, I do not remember the details of the transaction I made. I have answered the questions you asked me clearly. Although I do not exactly remember where I got the 50,000 euros, it may be money I received in cash from the club I played for at that time, along with my family's savings. I do not accept the accusation against me," she replied.
