Şeyma mentioned that they are filing a complaint against the establishment.
Gözde Şeyma, who claims she was denied entry to a venue in Alaçatı, İzmir, due to wearing a headscarf, stated, "The staff accepted to let my friend in, but when they saw me, they said, 'It's crowded inside, we can't let you in.' I then asked, 'Is it because I'm wearing a headscarf that you don't want to let me in?' The lady there simply replied, 'Sorry, our rules are this way,'" expressing that they have filed a complaint against the establishment.
"CLAIM OF BEING DENIED ENTRY DUE TO HEADSCARF"
A venue located in Alaçatı, İzmir, came into the spotlight with allegations that a woman named Gözde Şeyma was denied entry because she was wearing a headscarf. A video shared on social media regarding the woman's denial of entry has been viewed multiple times and sparked reactions.
THE ESTABLISHMENT DENIED THE ALLEGATIONS
In response, the establishment's officials made a statement on social media, claiming that Gözde Şeyma was not allowed in due to her friend, social media influencer İbrahim Yılmaz, rather than her headscarf.
THEY FILED A COMPLAINT
Gözde Şeyma and her social media influencer friend İbrahim Yılmaz made statements regarding the issue. Gözde Şeyma claimed she was denied entry due to her headscarf and stated that they have filed a complaint against the establishment.
"THEY SAID 'IT'S CROWDED INSIDE' DESPITE OUR RESERVATION"
Şeyma expressed that they had a reservation and said: "We made a reservation under the name Gözde Şeyma a day in advance. The next day, we went to the venue with my friend Bahar. Bahar got out of the car and headed to the counter to confirm the reservation. The staff confirmed that there was a reservation made in our name. At that moment, I was not visible; only Bahar was.
So, they were going to let us in. Later, I went to Bahar's side. This time the staff said, 'Yes, there is a reservation under the name Gözde Şeyma, but it's crowded inside, we can't let you in.' I then asked, 'Is it because I'm wearing a headscarf that you don't want to let me in?' The lady there merely replied, 'Sorry, our rules are this way.'
"AFTER US, 50-60 PEOPLE ENTERED"
Şeyma, who claims she was denied entry due to her headscarf, continued her words: "After this incident, we waited outside for about 40-50 minutes and observed the inside. Despite being told that we couldn't enter due to 'crowdedness,' we saw that 50-60 people who came after us were let in and welcomed with smiles. This clearly showed that the only reason for my denial of entry was my headscarf. Our friend İbrahim, who was with us, was completely unrelated to this incident. He was already waiting for us in the car.
"WE WERE NOT CROWDED"
He had not given his car to the valet. I went to him and explained the situation. I said, 'They didn't let me in because of my headscarf.' In response, he only came to us but did not get involved in the situation in any way. I would also like to point out that our reservation was actually for four people. However, since the plan changed, we went as just two women. Therefore, we were not crowded; we posed no problem.
If it was crowded, why were those who came after us let in cheerfully? Why was I not allowed in? After this incident, I initiated the necessary legal process. Because no one should be marginalized because of their beliefs, lifestyle, or clothing. Such discriminatory practices alienate people from their beliefs and social identities."
"I WAS NOT GOING TO ENTER THE VENUE THAT DAY"
Social media influencer İbrahim Yılmaz, who mentioned that a staff member insulted him, stated: "I was not going to enter the venue that day. A woman with a headscarf and another woman without a headscarf were going to enter together. I stayed in the car. If they can ask the valets, they will confirm that I did not hand over my car and that I did not get out of the car at all. Until I heard that the woman with the headscarf was not allowed in. We have initiated legal proceedings regarding this incident and filed a complaint with the gendarmerie.
The gendarmerie also requested the security camera footage from the incident. When that footage arrives, it will clearly show that those two women were in the reservation area, while I was waiting in the car. This situation is evident with all objective evidence. Nevertheless, we will also initiate legal action against those who distort this incident or unjustly defend the other party. So, what happened next? About 40 minutes later, a gentleman appeared at the scene, who had no connection to the incident, and started to manipulate the situation with his phone.
"A CHARLATAN WITH 19 MILLION FOLLOWERS"
Suddenly, he opened the camera and insulted me by calling me a 'charlatan with 19 million followers.' At that moment, pointing at the woman with the headscarf, he made mocking remarks like, 'You go in, you don't go in.' Frankly, this mocking and belittling attitude upset us a lot. If I manipulated this incident, if I made a statement that would belittle the venue, or if I even uttered a single sentence that distorted the essence of the incident, I would leave the city I live in today, my family, my career, and I would leave this country. I am that clear," he said.
